Oh, why, why, why?

Why is one death more tragic than another? Why is it more tragic when a straight A, upright student gets killed in a car wreck, than it is when a bad student, shady kind of guy gets killed in a car wreck? Is one life actually more valuable than another? Perhaps the good student would grow up to contribute to society and perhaps the bad student would grow up to be a detriment to society, but doesn't God love them both equally? Look at the apostle Paul. He was a religious rat, that killed people just because they were Christians. God made him into a fairly spectacular and respectable guy, wouldn't you say? Why do we say, "Oh, what a shame!", and "Well, he probably deserved it." Why do we say, "Well, she was old and probably ready to die.", and "Oh, she was so young, what a waste." Just who is in charge of these things anyway? Not us. All we can do is trust that God will see us through it, again and again and again.

Are these just thoughts, or has something sad happened?
I think it's horrible when someone loses a child or baby and someone says "oh, you will have more" I'm glade that God does understand, because it's clear that we humans don't.
Oh. and I'm not the wa wa baby, not this time.

It is all about valuing life and people..when we start to see people of any kind as not valuable then we will be on a very slippery slope. It starts with our babies, then older people then..then..then...

Are you talking about the kid that got hit by the drunk driver?

Mel, that is one of the things that triggered my thinking. And I was thinking about how horrific it is when five or whatever of our troops die in Iraq on any given day, but perhaps that many people could be killed in one car crash and it would barely hit the news. I fail to understand why one death is worse than another, unless of course it's in your family.

I was skimming through a book today and came across a quote that struck me and I posted it at www.thinkonthisquotes.blogspot.com and there were some other things mentioned around that particular quote that talked about the value of all lives and we as Christians shouldn't pick a pet cause at the exclusion of all others. For instance if we have a prolife platform but don't care about other dying around us we aren't doing justice to God's commands. I'm totally butchering their thoughts. But their point was that all life has value and we should care about prisoners, homeless, etc. too.

When 9-11 happened there was a lot of support for those who lost loved ones as it should have been, but then days and weeks later as people lost loved ones in less catastrophic ways they weren't given support on the same level. All loss of loved ones effects those left behind deeply.

Hi, thanks for visiting my blog! Hope you will come back.
You are so right, we do seem to see one death as more tragic than another when they are each a human life created by God.
